Welcome to the crown jewel of Central Illinois. This is the land of old coal mining, Gas Stations, Great Car Dealerships, friendly people, and copious amounts of food and love. Yes, it does rain, snow, become scorching hot, and on occasion a nice storm, but that does not stop us from enjoying life. In the winter, music, local bars, and our local cuisine keep the town buzzing. But when the sun comes out, you will find residents heading for Herschel Lake, Vermilion River, ATV Park, attending a festival, or flocking to the town’s many parks.

The Village of Tilton was founded in 1884. It is named after Charles Tilton, a friend of Abraham Lincoln, who worked for the railroads. Lincoln reputedly had Thanksgiving dinner at Tilton's house in the Village in the 1850s.

The Village of Tilton maintains a quality of life typically associated with small Midwestern towns, including low municipal tax rates, no personal property tax, acreage of prime developed land located on Illinois Route 1, a low crime rate, quiet un-congested neighborhoods, and a responsive government. Ease of access right onto Interstate I-74, making Tilton a great place to raise your family.

Direcciones desde la I-74 en dirección este:

Tome la I-74 este hasta la rampa en dirección este de Martin Luther King Drive.  Una vez que tome la salida, siga por Martin Luther King y gire hacia Main Street en Danville.  Una vez que llegue a un semáforo de cuatro vías, gire a la derecha en Gilbert Street (Ruta 1).  Siga la ruta 1 hasta Tilton.  Cuando llegue a Tilton, habrá una tienda Dollar General Store en el lado derecho de la Ruta 1. Directions from I-74 heading East:

Take I-74 East to the Martin Luther King Drive East Bound Ramp.  Once you take the exit, follow Martin Luther King and it will turn in to Main Street in Danville.  Once you come to a four way traffic light, take a right onto Gilbert Street (Route 1).  Follow Route 1 to Tilton.  When you come into Tilton, there will be a Dollar General Store on the right hand side of Route 1.  Take a right there at Ramp Road at the four way light and then take another right onto Lane Street.  At the bottom of Lane Street, take a left onto 14^th Street.  Follow 14^th Street for about a mile.  You will go over a bridge and continue 4 blocks to the corner of H Street and 5^th Street where Thomas Park is located.  Lupita’s Restaurant is right across the street. 

Directions from I-74 Heading West:

Take Exit 215 A for Georgetown Road.  Head South on Georgetown Road to Ramp Road where there is a 4 way light.  Take another right onto Lane Street.  At the bottom of Lane Street, take a left onto 14^th Street.  Follow 14^th Street for about a mile.  You will go over a bridge and continue 4 blocks to the corner of H Street and 5^th Street where Thomas Park is located.  Lupita’s Restaurant is right across the street.  

STARTING AUGUST 19TH, 2024 ALL RAMPS AT G STREET AND I-74 WILL BE CLOSED OFF TO ALL TRAFFIC. ALSO, AT THAT TIME SOME RAMPS AT I-74 AND ROUTE 1 WILL BE CLOSED OFF TOO.
